The most important thing in a business is progress, and progress comes with teamwork. No matter how hard a person is working, the business will not progress forward unless the person learns to delegate work. It is a quite common habit among new business owners to crowd themselves with business works. They tend to do all the jobs by themselves, resulting in delays and inconsistency in the business process.
When starting a business with very little money, we often think that we do not have money to pay for delegations. We think maybe we can do the job better than others, and sometimes we cannot even identify jobs that can be delegated. This is not smart thinking. We are choking the business process with our own hands. We better find the solutions by thinking creatively. First, we should identify the jobs to delegate. Then look for quality people who will work under our conditions. Some people even will work for free if we can motivate them. We may struggle initially. But with time we will learn our ways. By all means, we must find our ways to delegate work.
A business owner should be spending the majority of his time working “on the business”, not working “in the business”.
A business is not only about producing and selling. The fundamentals are these, for sure. But there are more important aspects to a business. One of them is automation.
Multiple processes running in automation makes a business productive.
A person can only work on a handful of things. A business cannot wait for a person. A business has its own time, speed and other characteristics. It is an independent entity. Crowding ourselves with all the works is like forcing our weaknesses on the business. We must bring automation into the business as early as possible. Be it software or people, we should be aiming for automation from the first day of the business.
As business owners, our goal should be to automate “in the business” jobs so that we get time to work “on the business”.
