Go cheap when starting a business after leaving job

I have seen people leaving their well-paid jobs in their late 30s and 40s to start a business, to follow their long-awaited dreams.

These salaried minded people who are well off financially, generally form a habit of thinking about “execution” relative to “money”. All their thought process gets clouded by the “more money” factor.

  • To get more, I will have to pay more
  • To get better quality, I’ll have to pay more
  • To do something, I will have to pay more

To an extent, thinking like this might help. But in my experience, this thought process only helps to justify one’s ego, not the business itself. A business is a lot more than just money. It is about being resourceful to build one block at a time, especially in the initial phase.

So, beware of this this “more money” approach. It can transform a dream into a nightmare in no time.
