How to fight self-doubt like a pro? (in 3 simple steps)

More than 85% of people around the globe suffer from self-doubt from time to time. Especially for a struggling entrepreneur, self-doubt is inevitable. It just happens, you can’t avoid it. 🤯😥

Self-doubt can occur for numerous reasons in an entrepreneur’s life. The reasons can be-

  • Too many rejections
  • Unable to generate sales
  • Failure to deliver results
  • Burden of expectation
  • Comparison with same-age peers and so on

Are you doubting yourself and your ability? Are you becoming lesser confident day by day? Are you always being negative and critical about yourself? Do you feel upset and wary all the time? Are you unable to make your mark in front of your peers? Do you feel you’re losing your charisma?

Give it a great thought, because you might be suffering from self-doubt. 😲

Self-doubt is a dangerous disease. If not addressed on time, it can lead to social anxiety and depression.

Physical diseases are relatively easier to address than mental diseases. Because the majority of people don’t even acknowledge that they have a mental illness. If there’s no disease, what to diagnose?

Acknowledging that I’m suffering from a mental illness makes us look weak and vulnerable. It hurts our ego. And for that reason, you can’t even share your mental condition with your closest friends.

Now you start to feel lonely and lost. If you’re suppressing a disease within yourself, you’re not winning. You’re actually losing every day! 😓

Become an entrepreneur by heart and show some courage to accept it! Then only you’ll become open to the solutions.

Here, I’ll give you 3 simple steps to fight your self-doubt without taking anyone’s help. 😃

Practice daily all by yourself. You don’t have to tell anyone, just practice within your mind.

These 3 simple steps have helped me to fight my self-doubting phase, and to become a better version of myself.

After consistent practice, I know myself better now. And I have clarity about what I should be doing in my life. ⚡💪

Hopefully, these steps will help you too!

Before diving ahead, let’s get a basic idea of self-doubt first.

What is self-doubt?

Self-doubt is the mental state where you feel uncertain of one or more aspects of your life. You doubt your ability or capability to face the situations lying ahead.

A little glimpse of self-doubt is good. But when it gets overcrowded, it can drag an individual towards suicidal tendencies.

You can overcome your self-doubt by following these 3 simple steps. The first step is to befriend your self-doubt. In the second step, you build your confidence backpack. And in the final step, you stop comparing yourself with others.

1. Befriend your self-doubt

Self-doubt is good. It’s a completely natural occurrence. Just like a fever. When you’re suffering from a fever, your body is heating up internally to fight the alien virus in your body. Your body is heating up to kill the virus, not to punish you. So the fever is good! 😵🤒

Now think of self-doubt.

When does self-doubt occur?

Self-doubt generally occurs when you’ve failed several times in something previously. Only then you start to doubt your capability or ability.

Why are you doubting your capability or ability?

Because you want to grow. You want to achieve something. But you can’t figure out how to achieve it. You’ve tried but failed every time. You think you aren’t meant for this. Now self-doubt starts to brew in your mind.

The good news is, self-doubt has come to your rescue. Yes! It has come to rescue you from your stagnation. By pushing you to do introspection. By making you realize, “who you really are”.

When you know who you are- you know what you can do, and what you can’t do. 🎯🔑

Self-doubt is the phase where you don’t go with the flow anymore. You just stop. To know yourself better, to know your strengths and weaknesses, to know your natural abilities, to know where you are and where you want to go.

Self-doubt allows you to know who you are.

The moment you realize that self-doubt is good for you, it becomes a possibility towards growth. Accept the goodness in self-doubt. Befriend your self-doubt and become the 2.0 version of yourself.

Stronger, more vibrant and the best!

2. Create a confidence backpack

A confidence backpack is a mental backpack comprising your skills, talents, past achievements and accomplishments. Create a list of your,

✔️ Skills – It can be anything that you’ve developed consciously over time. Like- dancing, cooking, playing the guitar, driving, writing etc.

Your skills don’t have to be at professional levels. If you’re proud of a skill and the time invested in it, then write it down.

✔️ Talents – It’s something you’re born with. Like- making people laugh, leading and taking initiative, managing people, solving problems and so on.

Don’t be ashamed. Talking to strangers is also a talent. Think deep and list down your teeny-weeny natural talents hidden inside you.

✔️ Accomplishments – This is something that you have achieved either as a team or for someone else. Like- hosting a birthday party, hosting a seminar, successfully running a marketing campaign for your client etc.

List all your accomplishments from your childhood to your current age.

✔️ Achievements – Achievements are something you have achieved for yourself only. Like- writing 1000 words article, creating a YouTube video, owning a business and so on.

Write down the smallest achievements in your life. Don’t be embarrassed, you’re not competing with anybody here.

Now, when you have a complete list for each category, read it out loud every day. Your job is to remember every skill, talent, accomplishment and achievement of yours. 📝📒

So that you can practice talking passionately about them in public. When you’re in a situation where you are nervous and concerned, just remember the things from your backpack and knock out (K.O.) the situation. 👊👊

We tend to forget our past due to the immense pressure of the present. This process will help you build some confidence and fight negative thoughts. Think like this – if I’ve done it previously, why not now!

3. Do not compare yourself with others

You’re you, and I’m me. There’s no way we are comparable. You have your own life journey, and your friends or peers have their own.

The contexts are different, childhood is different, schooling experience is different, your thought process and how you perceive things is different too. 😐😑

In every aspect of life, you are different from any other person out there. So stop comparing.

If they have a nice car, you should have one too. If they have a nice house, you should too, right?

Wrong!

It doesn’t make sense.

  • Why are they dictating your standards?
  • Why are they controlling your thoughts and emotions?
  • Why are others controlling your life?

It’s your life, isn’t it?

You should have a nice car when you want it for yourself. Not driven by any competition. But by a conscious and personal choice.

Stop competing with others and start competing with yourself only. 💕

If you want to compare, then compare with yourself only. Compare with your yesterday. Because only you and your yesterday-self have somewhat similar contexts in life.

Shut down all kinds of comparisons with others in your daily life. Because continuous comparison makes you feel inferior, and then self-doubt starts to creep on you.

Nobody is perfect, and you’ll always find someone better than others. There’s no end to it. ➰

Just be as you are. You’re incomparable!

Conclusion

So, these are the 3 simple steps to fight or overcome your self-doubt. Hope you liked them and most importantly, you’ll put them to practice.

Practice these steps daily to purge all the negative energies around you. 💪

Do you think these effective methods are easy and you can practice them daily?

Yes? 😃

Then share this blog with one of your friends who is also suffering from self-doubt. Sharing is caring, after all!
